A big THANK YOU to Kayla Thomas for such a kind story about Doug's 10-year cancer survival story, along with the workbook and how it came to be.

If you get your treatment here, ask your oncology, palliative, or hospice provider to help you get a copy. Then if you have any questions, my email is in the book.
This Omaha gem has always been so supportive of local authors, and this is no exception. You will find the workbook in the sections for Cancer, Health, and Local Authors.
Drop in for any reason or season, because it is always worth the trip - and if you do need the book, I hope it helps.
When a storm like cancer blows into your life, everything before that moment stops. Suddenly, in addition to soccer games, summer camp, full-time careers, and holiday planning, you now have oncology appointments, chemotherapy side effects, and medical bills. How do you sort it out, learn all the new terminology, and still care for those you love in ADDITION to the one who has cancer?
This workbook helps you get started.
Figuring out what you have, what you need, and where to start looking for it can help you navigate, especially in the early days when you are still adjusting to the sudden storm that cancer brings.
We also try to help you take care of yourself, stand up for yourself, and learn to advocate for your patient without losing yourself in the process.
Many will tell you this is a marathon, not a sprint, but I liken it more to a thousand sprints... you just must take the breaks where you can.
You can call me Colby, and in addition to my blessed life in Omaha as a wife, mom, writer, and municipal employee, I faced the challenging title of cancer caregiver for more than a decade. Our lives upended in the most unexpected ways when cancer dropped into our living room.
This book strives to help you navigate the new landscape where doctors cannot help, and I pray no one ever needs it again.
Nobody can prepare you for this fight, this journey, or the changes it will bring, but if this workbook helps you organize the parts of your life you CAN control, and gives you practical methods to figure out what you have, what you need, and how to get it, then that spells success to me.
Doug's battle began in 2014 with a poor prognosis and expected lifespan of 8-9 months, yet he lives and even thrives a decade later.
Our family perseveres, and we hope that our experience dealing with this kind of illness - by managing the initial chaos and "what do I do now" questions, helps you navigate your family's cancer journey.
We are pulling for you!
As much as people are getting diagnosed with cancer, their loved ones need to know what to do in these stressful times and this book is very helpful!
